How to Apply in Clearing

It’s not too late to apply

Clearing gives you the opportunity to apply for a course at the University Centre Shrewsbury for a September 2016 start date. You can apply for any course with places still available.

You can use Clearing if you:

  • have already applied through UCAS and don’t have an offer of a place at another university
  • haven’t already applied through UCAS and have now decided you would like to.

If you decide to make an application for a course at Shrewsbury through Clearing, our simple step-by-step guide should help. We appreciate that applying through Clearing can be stressful, so if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

STEP 1: Check your application status

If you have already applied through UCAS, check the status of your application on Track.  If you are in Clearing, your Clearing number will be displayed on Track.

If your offer is still showing up as conditional, you should contact the university concerned to find out why this is.

If you haven’t yet applied through UCAS, it’s not too late. Contact UCAS and they will provide you with your Clearing number.

STEP 2: Check Clearing vacancies

Check our course vacancies online and read our course profiles to see if it sounds like something you would like to do.

STEP 3: Contact Us

Once you’ve decided on the course you’d like to study at University Centre Shrewsbury, contact us and we’ll see if we are able to offer you a place.  As the University Centre is part of the University of Chester, you’ll need the following contact details:

When calling, let our Clearing Advisor know the course you are interested in and that it’s University Centre Shrewsbury you want to study at - remember to have your results to hand.

Don’t give up

Our lines can get very busy on results day, so your call might be placed in a queue.  Our Clearing Advisors will do everything they can to answer calls as efficiently as possible, so you shouldn’t have to wait for too long.

STEP 4: Refer your application

If we are able to offer you a place, you should log on to Track and refer your application to us. To do this, you’ll need to select the University of Chester (C55), and the institution code of "S" followed by the name of the course and the course code. We will then confirm your place through Track, and UCAS will send you an email confirming your place.

STEP 5: Visit

If this is your first time looking at Shrewsbury and you haven’t yet had an opportunity to visit the University Centre, ensure you take the time to visit us. It’s important that you feel assured that you are making the right choice and a visit to University Centre Shrewsbury is the best way of doing this.
