You may feel daunted by the cost of university, but there really is no need to worry. Going to university is affordable, and completing a higher education programme can contribute to brighter employment prospects and help you to gain the confidence and transferable skills needed for today’s world of work.

Tuition Fees

If you’re starting in 2017 or 2018, the tuition fees for UK/EU students at University Centre Shrewsbury will be:

  • £9,250 a year for a full-time Undergraduate degree or £1,540 per module for part-time study

The University may increase these fees at the start of each subsequent year of your course in line with inflation at that time, as measured by the Retail Price Index. These fee levels and increases are subject to any necessary government, and other regulatory, approvals.

For full-time modes of study, if you are eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan by Student Finance this will cover the cost of your tuition fee, and is paid directly to the course provider. If you live outside England, there can be subtle differences in the way student finance is governed. Further details can be can be found on student finance websites relevant to your country of residence.

Part-time Study

You may be eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan for Part-time study by Student Finance. However, if you live outside England, there can be subtle differences in the way student finance is governed. Further details can be can be found on student finance websites relevant to your country of residence.

If you are not eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan, you would need to pay for the modules yourself. Payment would be to the University of Chester, and this can be done monthly through direct debit from October – June. There is no deadline in the year for module submissions to be submitted, however our Finance team advise you to choose your module choices early, as if you choose to add a module outside of October – June you would be expected to pay for the module straight away.

If you are interested in studying an Undergraduate degree as part-time you will have six years to complete the course. This provides you with two years to complete the modules required for each year of study. The minimum amount you can study in one year is 20 credits per year and the maximum is 100 credits.

Foundation Year

There are a number of Foundation Year opportunities available, designed to provide you with the necessary academic study skills to successfully progress on to further studies at University Centre Shrewsbury.

Our Foundation Year tuition fee for UK/EU students starting in 2017/18 or 2018/19 is a discounted fee of £8,250 (with a £1,000 fee waiver bringing the fee down from £9,250).

Please note: The tuition fee for the subsequent years of study on the full-time undergraduate degree will be charged at the undergraduate degree fee level.
