While the way in which we will deliver some of the services and facilities we provide for our students may have changed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, University Centre Shrewsbury remains fully committed to delivering an excellent range of student support, student services and facilities to enhance your academic study. Details for the 2020/21 academic year will be sent directly to applicants and returning students. Further information can also be found here.

About the campus

Guildhall is nestled on the banks of the River Severn, and only a short walk from the winding streets of Shrewsbury.
First constructed in 2004, and renovated for the arrival of University Centre Shrewsbury in 2015, the Guildhall building is used as the main centre for teaching and learning and offers fresh, modern and open spaces for students to enjoy. From the moment you arrive here, it’s clear how friendly and welcoming the centre is, thanks to its close-knit team of academics, support staff and current students.
The building boasts modern computer suites, lecture and seminar rooms, open-plan laboratories, a spacious library, as well as a student common room, lounge, fitness suite, courtyard, and on-site café.

Our library at UCS has everything you need to help with your studies. The Help Desk is where you can find our friendly library staff who are happy to help you locate any books or journals you may need. We have a Quiet Area where you can get your head down without distraction and bookable pods complete with AV equipment for group and individual presentation work. Laptops are available for hire and can be used throughout Guildhall, along with printer, scanner, binder and guillotine facilities. The book shelves are filled with all the necessary titles for every course at UCS, and further digital resources are also available online.

Open Access IT Suite

Open 24 hours a day, the Open Access IT Suite is a self-contained area of Guildhall for students to access whenever they need to. It’s a quiet study space with plenty of room to spread out books, printing facilities, plus coffee and vending machines if you need a snack to power through those essay sessions!

Stop at UCS

Stop is our café at UCS where you can get a soft drink or coffee, along with a range of hot or cold food. Stop is a well-known local business in Shrewsbury and enters into the community spirit that we embody here at UCS. Complete with distinctive artwork and a unique soundtrack, Stop offers something different from the norm and is the perfect spot to meet up with friends and grab a bite to eat. University Centre Shrewsbury is also proud to be only the second disposable-cup-free campus in the UK, and Stop plays a big role in that through the Shrewsbury Cup initiative.

Students’ Union Lounge

Our Students’ Union Lounge is a great place to come and relax before, between or after lectures. It’s a casual space to sit and chat, play pool, watch TV or listen to music. This is also where you’ll find our Shrewsbury Students’ Union. They are there for the students should there be any issues with their courses, resources or personal matters. It’s also here that sports and societies can be joined or created, events can be organised and activities for everyone can be planned – with the students at the heart of it.
