Ben was doing an Open University course and was a full-time teaching assistant when he applied to University Centre Shrewsbury through Clearing. Knowing he wanted to become a fully qualified teacher and gain real experience of teaching, Ben got in touch, completed the interview and was offered a place on the BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS course.
The mental health support at University Centre Shrewsbury has helped Ben to manage his Asperger’s whilst completing his degree, giving him the confidence to reach his potential. Two years in, Ben is enjoying planning lessons, teaching and most importantly, feeling like a teacher. The community atmosphere at Shrewsbury has been the ideal environment for Ben, to not only develop into a teacher, but also overcome personal challenges.
