Our Visit Days are just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to come along and learn more about University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS). We’ll have staff and students on hand at each date to let you know more about life and study at UCS.

If you’ve already booked a place, or you’re thinking of coming along, here are our top five tips to make the most of a Visit Day and see if Shrewsbury is the right choice for you.

1. Get Prepared

Once you’ve booked your place we'll send you all you need to know to plan your visit to Shrewsbury, including directions, travel and parking information. We’ll also provide you with a timetable for the day, so you’ll have a good idea of where you’ll need to go and what you’ll be doing.

2. Ask Questions

It’s worth refreshing yourself on the key aspects of your course and what first made you apply or consider University Centre Shrewsbury before your visit. It may be useful to prepare a few questions to help determine if we are the right university for you. You might want to consider questions such as:

  • What modules and field trips are on offer?
  • What are the options for part-time work and volunteering?
  • What societies are available through the Students’ Union?

Our job is to help you make the right decision, so feel free to ask us any questions you may have. If you have any queries before the Visit Day you can contact us on or by calling us on 01743 297185.

3. Meet Staff and Current Students

There will be plenty of subject tutors and current students to talk to during the Visit Day, so you can get one-to-one information and advice on a range of areas including: Student Support, Admissions, Student Finance and Accommodation. We’ll also have a number of our Student Ambassadors present who can provide you with an array of information and first-hand experience on making the most out of your time at UCS.

4. View Accommodation

Our Visit Days will also provide you with a chance to see our student accommodation and where you could choose to live in Shrewsbury. Our accommodation at Mardol House and The Tannery is located in the town centre, just a five-minute walk from the University Centre, as well as being close to many of the unique shops, restaurants, bars and cafes Shrewsbury has to offer.

5. Explore

One of the most important things to do when attending a Visit Day is to find out about your course. As well as that, there are a range of activities you’ll also be shown. Don’t miss the opportunity to:

  • Take a student-led campus tour
  • Talk with our support departments in the ‘Advice and Guidance’ area
  • Attend the 'Welcome Talk' to find out more about Shrewsbury and what to do next.

If you haven’t already done so you can also use the opportunity to visit Shrewsbury town – whether it’s a meal out, a quick look around the shops, or taking in the local sights and sounds – it’s important to try and get a feel for the place you could be calling home for the next few years.

If you haven’t already booked yourself onto one of our Visit Days, make sure you don’t miss your chance to come and see us over the next couple of months. Our Visit Days are on Saturday 9th February, Saturday 9th March and Saturday 13th April.
