Could you tell us your age and where you are from?

I am 20 years old and from the U.S. and Canada.

Why did you decide to study at University Centre Shrewsbury?

I was looking for a more personable university experience and UCS offers that through small class sizes and a close community.

Why did you choose to study your course?

UCS Musical Theatre offers training in not only singing dancing and acting but you have the opportunity to create and devise theatre. The small class sizes ensure personal training and you get to start working on your solo skills starting in your first year.

What is the best thing about your course?

We get to pursue other interests in our field outside of the core modules. For example, I'm really interested in the tech side of theatre so I have been able to assist with tech throughout my course studies and create lighting designs for shows and events. Other roles my colleagues have participated in have been directors, choreographers, acting captains and many more.

What are your plans and hopes for the future?

I hope to continue performing on stage and screen, possibly pursue a masters, and hopefully teach and open my own theatre company.

Can you tell us a little about how important it is to make the most of the opportunities that are provided here for students – both within and outside the University in Shrewsbury?

Most of the lecturers at UCS are working in their field and are able to provide endless opportunities and have influential connections within their industry. The town of Shrewsbury has many career enriching opportunities for all courses at UCS, and we are in a great location to pursue options in other bigger cities such as Birmingham, Chester, Liverpool, and Manchester. It’s amazing to be able to work and/or be involved in your industry to achieve a head start on your future career path.

If you could have a superpower what would you choose?

The ability to be able to heal any living being.

What might people not know about you?

I have two black belts.

What is the best piece of advice that you could give to a student?

Take advantage of any opportunities that will positively benefit your life!

What makes University Centre Shrewsbury unique?

The community aspect throughout all courses and administrative personnel.
